Western ArtWalk

The 19th annual Western ArtWalk returns to the “West’s Most Western Town” and the Scottsdale Arts District on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) in conjunction with Downtown Scottsdale and sponsored in part by Arizona Collector’s Guide.

The Western ArtWalk is held each Fall while the Cowboy Artists of America (CAA) Show is in town. Many of the famed CAA artists will have their works on display or be on hand during the Western ArtWalk to mingle with fans and collectors at featured Scottsdale galleries.

ArtWalkers will also find plenty of western-themed live music, sponsored in part by True West Magazine. This year’s event will feature country-rockers The Chickens and many others. Free restaurant samplings, awesome prize giveaways and other special doings can be found along the ArtWalk route in celebration of Scottsdale’s western heritage.

You can find the Scottsdale Arts District along Main Street, just west of Scottsdale Road, and along Marshall Way north and south of Indian School Road up to Stetson. There are plenty of nearby free parking areas, and easy access to local hotels or famed Scottsdale eateries via Scottsdale Trolleys or horse-drawn carriages.

Via Colori ArtWalk — A new Saturday afternoon ArtWalk celebrating the adjacent Via Colori Street Painting Festival, raising money for charity! Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, Noon-4pm. Free. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association in conjunction with the first-ever Scottsdale Via Colori event (Oct. 18-19) and the City of Scottsdale. 1st annual!

A Taste of ArtWalk — Sumptuous restaurant samples along the ArtWalk route in Scottsdale Downtown, plus many special VIP dining opportunities for charity! Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, 7-9pm. Free. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association in conjunction with Savor Scottsdale event (Oct. 23-35) and the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors’ Bureau. 1st annual!

November 2008

Wearable ArtWalk — One-of-a-kind fashions on parade throughout Scottsdale Downtown – Thursday, Nov. 6, 7-9pm. Free. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association in conjunction with Scottsdale Fashion Week. 2nd annual!

January 2009

Fiesta Bowl ArtWalk – “ArtWalk the Line” in an artistic preface to the big game at the Fiesta Bowl ArtWalk, on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009 from noon to 5pm along Main Street and Marshall Way, Scottsdale Downtown. Free. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association in conjunction with City of Scottsdale. (NOTE: the college football classic will be held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009). 11th annual Fiesta Bowl ArtWalk!

Rockin’ ArtWalk – Walkers might be rockers during this event in the Scottsdale Arts District. Saturday, January 17, 2009, Noon-4pm. Free. Hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association along with P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon and the Scottsdale Convention & Visitors’ Bureau. 5th annual!
